Kids Say the Darndest Things
Now that the girls are talking, we find that they really have a lot to say to us. And we are astonished to discover that it isn’t always about how much they love us and appreciate how we spend most of our waking hours catering to their every need. Can you believe it?! Take my favorite Ella quote from yesterday: AHHHHH! I’m MAD at you! I’m figuring this is just the first of many times I will be hearing this one, but it’s a little disconcerting to hear it from a 28 month old. At least she knows how to express her feelings. 2010 Year in Review, Take 2
And, for those of you who would like to know even more about 2010 in the Lehmer household, here is the much more wordy version – from youngest to oldest: Ella: Ella has a lot to report from this past year. Some of her accomplishments include finally growing in a full head of crazy, curly hair (it took awhile!), moving from a crib to a toddler bed, figuring out how to unlatch every child lock and open every door in our house (sometimes her 6 year-old cousin Isabel asks Ella for help opening a child-proof cupboard) and becoming quite the chatterbox. 2010 Year in Review, Take 1
Here’s just a snapshot of the things we’ve been up to these past 12 months: Winter 2010: Jason went to Vegas to see good friends Ryan & Sara tie the knot; Jason & Rebecca were the featured speakers at Brephos Crisis’ Pregnancy Center’s Annual Fundraising Banquet (one of the organizations that helped us adopt Aubrey in Grand Rapids, MN); Good friends Jake & Cari came to visit from Omaha, NE. Aubrey’s “Backpack”
You may have noticed that a couple weeks back I posted an album called “Aubrey’s Backpack.” I’ve been wanting to explain that ever since, but am just making it back for some more extended blogging time. Many of you may remember that up until this point in time, Aubrey was getting all the formula that she needed overnight, pumped into her tummy at a slow, steady rate. This was because her stomach didn’t seem to be able to handle large volumes without her getting sick. This past month our feeding therapist recommended that we give day time feedings a try. The idea is that it would be better for her stomach to get used to larger volumes of food (if she can handle it) and for her body to be on a normal “hunger satiation...

Yep – this is most certainly Ella’s preferred sleeping position – with a blanket wrapped around her face and her head surrounded by stuffed animals. I can’t tell you how many times I have gone in and unwrapped her face so she can breathe better, but she loves those pink silky blankies and can’t sleep without them! This second one is my favorite – how comfortable can THAT possibly be? ...
