A Week at the Lake

JCragun’s” with the Halse’s. It was a fantastic vacation, it was one of those trips were we had so much fun and reached such an ideal state of relaxation that I’m still having difficulty snapping out it. We all stayed in a 3BR cabin right on the beach and I mean right on the beach. The week was filled with many camp fires (tasty treats & beverages included), swimming, playing on the beach and a little late night music trivia for Richard and I. We also managed to fit in some golf, a horse drawn carriage ride and pontoon tour of Gull Lake and a spa treatment.

True to just about all trips away from home, the girls had some trouble sleeping through the night which caused some a few sleep deprived nights for Mom & Dad. All in all it wasn’t too bad and we were able to compensate by catching afternoon naps throughout the week to catch up on sleep. It will be great milestone when we can get the girls sleeping in the same room, here’s hoping that day will come before next year.

Toward the end of the week some of Rebecca’s family came up and stayed in a room at the lodge. Thursday evening we celebrated Nick’s birthday with another amazing cake from Amanda. I’ve posted about Amanda’s cooking before so I won’t go into it, needless to say she nailed it again.

Not only was it good to catch up with the Halse’s and relax with family it was great seeing how much the girls (our girls and Richard and Sara’s daughter Emily) enjoyed everything around the resort. All the girls loved the beach and playing in the sand. The playground wasn’t far from our cabin so the girls were always running down to jump on the slides and the swings every chance they could. Aubrey was determined to run out (and probably straight off) the docks along the beach, but we managed to prevent that from happening. Aubrey enjoyed jumping in the lake whenever she could and both her and Ella loved digging in the sand and playing with Izzy whenever they could. It hit home for me during this trip that we are beginning to make the summer vacation memories for our girls (not quite yet but very soon) that I value so much from my childhood.

Thanks to all for making our summer vacation so enjoyable. For those looking for a reasonably priced lake resort getaway I’d recommend Cragun’s. It’s not the fanciest accommodations you’ll find but the free activities and location on Gull Lake will definitely win you over.
