7 Years of Marital Bliss

August 2002
Yep, we have been married seven years today! As I told Jason this morning, seven is the number of completeness (in the Bible) so I guess we have officially arrived at perfection. Then he laughed at me and basically implied that I was crazy. For those of you who aren’t here yet, perfection is beautiful.
We are celebrating tomorrow night with dinner and a Phoenix concert. If you don’t know who Phoenix is, don’t worry, apparently no one else does either. I’m looking forward to Jason’s annual “State of the Marriage” address, which he initiated on our first anniversary and has shared every year since. Believe it or not, Jason doesn’t spend a lot of time telling me everything he is thinking or feeling about life and marriage on a day-to-day basis, so I always learn some new things as he reflects back on the year.
For me, this has probably been the hardest year of our life together in many ways, as we’ve had to adjust to all the changes that came with becoming parents while at the same time trying to figure out how to live with the ongoing and often overwhelming stress of having a medical mystery of a child. While I’m definitely hoping for an easier path this next year, I feel like this past year has “proven” our marriage in a sense – we’ve made it through so much together in such a short period of time that I’m feeling pretty confident we can make it through anything more life throws at us. I’m so thankful to be married to such a strong, loyal, committed, caring man and I am hoping for seventy-seven more years of life and love together!
Congrats, guys! Thanks for sharing your anniversary with my birthday.
And I’m sure you’re right about the testing your marriage has taken this year. You guys are amazing with your girls. Love you!!
Congratulations and blessings! Enjoy phoenix. Want a little preview? Fantastic.

Congrats guys! Here’s to many, many more! Seven was probably the toughest for us, but in a few days we’ll be celebrating our 12th, so if we can make it that far, anyone can.
Enjoy the show, and make Jason wear the suit he wore to Isabel’s tea party.
